This video is awesome if you haven't watched it! It tells about the many different ways to volunteer with Dig-In. After the harvest and other work is done, anyone can pick up free produce on Wednesdays. Not only is this a win for your table and grocery budget, but it's also an opportunity for outreach, evangelism, and to help put food on your neighbor's table. When you pick up a box for your family, grab one, two, or maybe more for your friends and neighbors as well. Taking them food is a way of sharing God's love and an opportunity to share your story of how the Lord has blessed you. Funshine Day Camp, June 22-25 2026. Celebrating 26 years of camping fun! What is Summer Funshine Day Camp? It is designed to provide recreational and educational opportunities for persons of all ages with developmental disabilities. Our hope is that participants quality of life will be enhanced through fellowship where everyone is loved, affirmed and valued. The need for folks to be INCLUDED rather than EXCLUDED prompted people to join in prayer for a solution to this problem being experienced by people in our area. Through God’s guidance and grace, “Funshine” has served increasing numbers of campers with disabilities over the years at no cost to participants. The good Lord has abundantly supplied their needs. The past 24 years, Camp Funshine was held at Patience Park Campground in South Toe. Due to Hurricane Helene and the destruction, the campground was lost. The volunteers and families of Camp Funshine prayed for a new permanent location. Their prayers were heard. Camp Funshine will be held at the West Yancey Volunteer Fire Department Training Center, 6553 US Hwy 19, Burnsville. We encourage anyone that would like to see what “Funshine” is all about to join us as a volunteer. Volunteer applications may be picked up in the Family Life Center or in the church office. If you would like to volunteer, please return applications to the church office by June 5th. That hole needs patching in your Sheetrock. That hill needs weed eating. Those walls could use a fresh coat of paint. Can’t clean those cobwebs in your house anymore. Let us know so we can help! Many of us find ourselves needing help with home projects and Higgins is offering to help with these needs through “Construction Love” and simply just helping to clean your house or hang a picture. There will be HOME PROJECT BOXES placed in the Sanctuary and Family Life Center. When you have a need, fill out the card provided with your contact information and a brief description of the project and place it into the box. Someone will reach out to you. Heads up Higgins family! We’ll be asking for volunteers as needs arise. This will be an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ. Come fellowship, and share your gifts to bless others. David Cort has been our local spokesperson for Compassion for many years. Thanks to his dedication and effort, several families and groups within our congregation are sponsoring children. This year we have added four new sponsors from our church family. You guys are amazing! We give a big shout out of thanks for all who are faithfully sponsoring a child. Here at Higgins, we are actively involved in mission work within the community and around the world. Our three-fold focus is on sharing the gospel, serving to meet the needs of others, and building connections. There are many ways you can get involved. Some opportunities may tug at your heart to get involved by participating in a project. Other times, you may feel you could better serve the mission through your prayers or a donation. All levels of involvement are important and very much needed. Our hope is that we will see you out in the field soon, involved in one or more of the upcoming opportunities. Archives
