Higgins Youth
Meet The CaptivesOur youth group is known as The Captives. Our home base is in the Sanctuary basement, lovingly referred to as The Dungeon. What comes to mind when you think of a dungeon? We were reminded of dank prisons, and those taken captive for Christ. Not just the apostles of the New Testament, who rejoiced to be counted worthy, but our brothers and sisters around the world who are still imprisoned for their beliefs.
You'll Love The Captives! We like to have fun while we learn about Jesus and His plan for our lives. On Sunday evenings, we spend time worshiping and studying the Word of God together. We also offer various activities throughout the year including missions, concerts, camp, and theme parks. Check us out! You will be glad you did and so will we.
Join Us!The Captives meet on Sundays at 5:00 pm in The Dungeon. We start with dinner, which is provided by wonderful volunteers from our congregation, and is ALWAYS delicious. We love eating together and doing fun ice-breakers so everyone can connect and get to know each other. We then move into worship and bible study, followed by creative ministries, including drama, music, and worship dance.
Who Leads The Captives?Trick question! Jesus sets captives free when they follow Him! Even those bound by physical chains can have spiritual freedom.
Our youth group is led by young adult leaders, Jake & Jordan Honeycutt. The team approach allows them to bring a diverse set of backgrounds, knowledge and skills. Our teens are actively involved in their own spiritual growth. Worship is led by our talented youth. Our Youth Leaders feel it is important to ask our teens what they are struggling with and what they would like to learn more about, allowing them to play a part in lesson planning. Occasionally, our youth lead their own Bible studies. Discussions are open, and often intense. When visiting The Captives, you’ll find an awesome group that is passionate about introducing the tangible love of God to every one in attendance. |
